What is the Short Films, Big Ideas: Virtual Community Film Series?

SRCHC and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) have come together as program partners to offer an innovative means for people to stay active while living with long term health condition. Through Short Films, Big Ideas, we are using the medium of film to address social isolation and bring together diverse members of community.

Trained peer facilitators lead a group of 10 individuals through a series of short documentaries. Participants co-create their experience of the film and learn about perspective taking during debrief. Each session is 1 hour in length.

Why are you offering the film screening virtually?

Due to COVID-19, our quarterly in-person film screening has been cancelled until further notice. We are excited to offer the program virtually, where participants can watch films online and engage with each other from their homes.

Who can attend?

This group based program is intended for anyone who has previously attended a self-management program.
