What is the Motivational Interviewing webinar?

In a webinar environment, participants will learn and practice specific Motivational Interviewing skills/strategies to address patient behavioural change. Workshop content is developed from evidence-based approaches used in motivational interviewing, stages of change and self management theory. Participants will have opportunity to practice skills and receive feedback from peers and facilitator.

The webinar will focus on the topic: “Using OARS Skills to Develop Rapport”. You will

  • Learn how to use the skills of Open-ended questions, Affirmations, Reflections and Summaries to assist health care providers in developing rapport and engaging their clients
  • Review MI theory and the 4 processes of an MI session
  • Practice skills during the webinar

What happens in the training?

In this 1 hour web-based training, a trained MI facilitator will lead the group through concepts that will reinforce learning.
